MULTIFUNCTIONAL INTEGRATED CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS GROUP (MICS)

MULTIFUNCTIONAL INTEGRATED CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS GROUP (MICS) contains state of the art facilities and software for integrated circuits design and measurements. Our research has been funded by National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, National Science Foundation EPSCoR, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Air Force Research Lab, , and Industrial Companies. MICS Lab conducts research in the area of Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) Circuit and Systems, Neuromorphic Computing, Congitive Computing and Communications, Emerging Technologies, Hardware Reliability and Variability.

Dr. Hongyan Hou

Dr. Hongyan Hou received the Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from University of Florida in 2013. She was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Carnegie Mellon University from 2013 to 2014. Her research interests include numerical analysis, numerical optimal control, computational mathematics, and recurrent neural networks.

Md Amimul Ehsan

Md Amimul Ehsan received the B.S degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh in 2009 and M.S degree in Physics from University of South Dakota, USA in 2013. His area of interest in research includes signal and power integrity, high frequency interconnect modeling and design, and three dimensional integrated circuit (3D IC) design. He was with Intel Corporation, Chandler, AZ as a Signal Integrity Engineering Intern and worked on modeling the pogo pin socket for computational reduction. He severed as a reviewer for IEEE Transaction on Very Large Scale Integration (TVLSI), IEEE Transaction on Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technology (TCPMT), IEEE Transaction on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems (TCAD), IEEE Transaction on Antennas and Propagation (TAP), IEEE International Symposium on Quality Electronic Design (ISQED), IEEE International Conference on 3D IC, IEEE Global Communication Conference (GLOBECOM), IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC).

Chenyuan Zhao

Chenyuan Zhao received the B.S degree in Automation from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China in 2007 and the M.S degree in Systems and Communications from the Jinan University, China in 2012. His area of interest in research includes mixed signal integrated circuit (IC) design, neuromorphic computing system design, and radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) design. He also severed as a reviewer for Computers & Electrical Engineering (CEE) in 2015, IEEE International Symposium on Quality Electronic Design (ISQED) 2015, Women in Computing and Informatics (WCI) 2015, and IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC) in 2015.

Hongyu An

Hongyu An received the B.S degree in Electrical Engineering from Shenyang University of Technology, Shenyang, China and M.S degree in Electrical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla, USA. His area of interest in research includes Neuromorphic Engineering, Three Dimensional IC (3D-IC) Design for Neuromorphic Computing and Brain-Inspired Computing System, Signal Integrity and Power Integrity Modeling in Nanoscale for Three dimensional IC (3D-IC) design, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Artificial Neural Networks, Physical Design Automation.

Susanna Mosleh

Somayeh (Susanna) Mosleh received the B.S. degree in electronics and the M.S. degree in communication systems from Yazd University, Yazd, Iran. From 2013 to 2014, she was with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University at Buffalo, as a Visiting Researcher. Her research interests include congitive compuring and communications, cooperative communications, caching, big data, and distributed designs.

Jialing Li

Jialing Li received the B.S. and MEng degrees in aeronautical engineering from Imperial College London, United Kingdom in 2015. Her research interests include energy efficient analog integrated circuit design, computer aided design, and neuromorphic computing (NC).

Kian Hamedani

Kian Hamedani received his B.S. degree from Iran university of science and technology in electronics and M.Sc. in biomedical engineering- bioelectric from Amirkabir university of technology(Tehran Polytechnic). His research interests include Neural Networks, Neuromorphic computing, machine learning, data analysis and circuit design.

Rachad Atat

Rachad Atat received his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering with distinction, Lebanese American University, Lebanon, and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Track: Communications and Signal Processing, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia. His research interests include Congitive Computing, Energy Efficient Wireless Networks, big data and cyber physcics systems (CPS).

Kang-Jun Bai

Kang Jun Bai received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and M.S. degree in Embedded Electrical & Computer Systems (EECS) at San Francisco State University, USA in 2014 and 2016, respectively. His research involves mixed signal integrated circuit (IC) design for bio-inspired neuromorphic computing systems and neural network.

Kelly Rodriguez Manyari

E. Kelly Rodriguez Manyari got her M.S. degree at The University of Kansas, USA. Previously, she received her Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the same institution. She is currently affiliated with the Integrated Circuits and Systems Lab at the Information and Telecommunication Technology Center and the Cortical Plasticity Laboratory at The University of Kansas Medical Center. She has worked as a undergraduate research assistant for the NSF Center of Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets and as engineering intern at IBM. Her research interests include digital signal processing and artificial neural networks.

Lakshmi Sravanthi Koutha

Ms. Lakshmi Sravanthi Koutha received her B.Tech degree (Distinction) from CVR College of Engineering, India in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering in 2015. Her research areas include Analog Integrated Circuit Design and Low Power Electronics.

Arnesh Kumar Bose

Arnesh Kumar Bose received the Bachelor of Technology degree in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata, India in 2013. Also received Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas, USA in 2016. Currently working under the guidance of Dr. Yang Yi. Current area of interest is design for Analog amplifier and analog and digital VLSI circuit design.

Yongbo Liao

Dr. Yongbo Liao is an associate professor in the School of Energy Science and Engineering at the University of Electronic Science & Technology of China (UESTC). Dr. Liao received his B.A. in Microelectronics and solid-state electronics at UESTC in 1999, M.S. in Microelectronics and solid-state electronics at Lanzhou University in 2006, and Ph.D. in Microelectronics and solid-state electronics at UESTC 2010. His research of interests include Analysis, modeling, and design methodologies for high performance digital and mixed-signal IC (integrated circuits), such as calculator IC, digital audio power amplifier IC, FPGA IC, CPLD IC, detector readout circuit IC and so on; power manage IC design, such as DC/DC (Direct Current to Direct Current) converter IC, AC/DC (Direct Current to Alternating Current) converter IC, PFC (Power Factor Correction) IC; Software/hardware co-emulation for system on chip and FPGA.

Pavan Kumar Ramakrishnaiah

Mr. Pavan Kumar Ramakrishnaiah was Educated in SVEI High School and graduate in 2007. He attended Visvesvaraya Technological University and received his Bachelor degree in Electrical and Communication Engineering in Mysore India. He got his M.S. degree in 2014 and is currently working as an anolog design engineer at Intel Inc.

Sreelakshmi Penmetsa

Sreelakshmi Penmetsa is currently working as a senior anolog and mixed mode circuit designer at NVidia Inc. She got her M.S. degree in the Electrical Enginering at the University of Kansas in 2015. He reserach interests include high performance and energy efficient circuit design, hardware reliability and variability.

Shamsuddin Hemani

Mr. Shamsuddin Hemani got his M.S. in Electrical Engineering in 2014 and is currently working as RF Engineer in U.S. Cellular. He got his Bachelor of Engineering from Osmania University at Hyderabad, India.

Harish Koushik Sampangi

Harish Koushik Sampangi received his Bachelor's degree from JNTU, Hyderabad, India in the year 2012. He has enrolled for Master's in Electrical Engineering at the University of Kansas in Fall 2014. He is currently working in Dell Inc. His research interests include topics related to Wireless Communications and Networking.

Max Chen

Mr. Max Chen got his B.S. from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. He got his M.S. degree in 2013 and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at UMKC.
